shows the 'manic panic' before the show starts and the curtain goes up
title card/animation would pop up with the title of the documentary
the montage would back up the meaning of the title as it shows the 'behind the curtain' aspect quite well
show footage
in the dress rehearsal footage can be shot from the auditorium so that there's some front facing shots
whereas in the shows footage will be from side of stage
montage will be a useful tool here - to show the different people and their dances
shots of people walking up to the stage getting ready
this footage will be used over interview shots as use of actuality and to show how the show narrative works
the show is the nutcracker so the audience of my doc will need to understand the narrative of the show
this could be explained at the start from one of the peoples interviews
would want to capture the smiles on the pupils faces as they get ready for the show
interviews
interviews would frame the narrative as they re-tell the events
interviews can happen at the dance show or after at their homes so that there's a chance of scenery
this is something i am debating on if i do or not as i am unsure with consent how people would feel with me going into their homes to do an interview with their children
as it's focused on a couple of different people the interviews would be from them so the point of views may be different
narrative
in terms of narrative the audience follow the people so follow through with each show
so they would follow dress rehearsal, show 1, show 2 and then show 3 - showing the audience progress from show to show
end of doc
final show (show 3) as there are a lot of people who's show is the last so would end on a more emotional notes
could have narration over the top of it from one of people are focused on (preferably the older ones) as there would be a lot of emotion
end with a montage of the pupils during a finale (show 3 may be difficult to shoot) shows the community feel
final shot of the curtains closing from either the auditorium or the stage
