  2. Causes
    1. 1. An abnormal cell develops. A section of chromosome 9 switches with chromosome 22. This creates an extra short chromosome 22 called a philadelphia chromosome.
    2. 2. Abnormal chromosome creates a new gene called BCR-ABL, which has instructions to produce too much tyrosine-kinase which promotes cancer by alowing cell growth to get out of control.
    3. 3. New gene allows for too many sick cells.

    4. Stroke, excess clotting
    5. Joint/bone pain due to excess WBC build up
    6. Death
  4. Definition: an uncommon type of cancer that affects blood cells. "Chronic" meaning it progress more quickly then other leukemias
