2. Causes
   1. 1. An abnormal cell develops. A section of chromosome 9 switches with chromosome 22. This creates an extra short chromosome 22 called a philadelphia chromosome.
   2. 2. Abnormal chromosome creates a new gene called BCR-ABL, which has instructions to produce too much tyrosine-kinase which promotes cancer by alowing cell growth to get out of control.
   3. 3. New gene allows for too many sick cells.
3. Complications
   1. Fatigue, anemia

   4. Stroke, excess clotting
   5. Joint/bone pain due to excess WBC build up
   6. Death
4. Definition: an uncommon type of cancer that affects blood cells. "Chronic" meaning it progress more quickly then other leukemias

   5. Alternative medicine such as massage, relaxation, mediation, accupuncture, aromatherapy
   6. Target drugs block the actions of tyrosine-kinase ie. Gleevec, Sprycel, Tasigna
