Occurs when children experience a new event, disequilibrium occurs until the child is able to assimilate or accommodate new event to reach Equilibration
Equilibration (combines Assimilation and Accommodation)

Works in conjunction with Assimilation (can't have one without the other). Process which allows children to modify schemes and structures to accommodate new information
Assimilation (previous knowledge)
Children take information from environment and modify existing structures to fit new information
Structuralism - mental structures that change through experience
Constructivism - children shape own meaning from experience, no external assistance
