      2. Experiment with non-verbal responses
      3. Go back to same place to re-feel
    3. Be willing to discharge (and be confident that you can)
    4. Try any suggestions from your counselor 3 times at least
    5. Tweak contradictions you are offered to make them even more effective
    6. Direct your counselor if you know contradictions that are effective for you
    7. Balance of attention!

    1. Attitude of confident respect (and possibly, delight) in client
      1. 90% of good counseling
    2. Help client set-up well
      1. Comfort, resting pose
    3. Start with what's going well
    4. End by asking about attention and offering a question
      1. Spell your last name backwards
        1. How does that sound when you say it?
      2. Count backwards from 81 in 3's
      3. What could you make out of the following 3 items?
      4. Look around and describe something delightful in your environment
      5. Name 3 rivers in your area
    5. Stay light & confident even when client goes heavy
    6. Set limits according to your free attention
      1. Swap roles if restimulated
    7. Notice when Client is having feelings and invite them not to pass over these - keep going 'back there'
    8. Audibly appreciate your Client when they do discharge "that's good!" - "keep going"
    9. Experiment!

        1. What is the distress?
        2. In how many ways could I contradict that?
      2. Try out your thinking
        1. Client agrees to try contradiction 3 times at least (can modify)
    10. Encourage working early
      1. Did you ever feel like this before?
      2. What's an early time this reminds you of?

    3. Don't client on inappropriate material
      1. Ask if in doubt
  4. Don'ts a counselor
    1. Do not 'take the microphone'
    2. Do not interpret or analyse
    3. Do not refer to client's material in or out of session without asking
    4. Don't follow up on your interests
    5. Never say 'oh, something like that happened to me too'
      1. Ok to springboard for own sessions IF permission sought
    6. Don't worry about making mistakes!
