Red free green filter
- helpful when viewing the bulbar conjunctiva, and episcleral blood vessels
- With the aid of the red free filter small hemorrhages, aneurysms and engorged vessels stand out
- Slit height control
- Canthus alignment
- Chin rest
- Hand grip for patient
- Low friction
- Fixation target
- Joystick
- Table height adjustment
- Forehead band
- Lock for slit lamp base
- Power switch
-
binocular eyepieces
- The eyepiece has a lens of +10 D
- it uses a pair of prisms between the objective and the eyepiece to reinvert image
- camera/video adaptor
-
observation tube
- To provide good stereopsis, the tubes are converged at an angle of 10–15
- magnification changer

Notes
- composed of two optical elements – an objective and an eyepiece
- Objective lenses consists of two plano convex lenses, with their convexities put together providing a composite power of +22 D

Mechanical Support
- Part
- Subtopic 3

Uses
- a coupling of the microscope and the illumination system along a common axis of rotation which coincide their focal planes
- This ensures the light falls on the point where microscope is focused
- It allows either the microscope or the illumination system to be rotated around the axis without changing the focus
- This enhances fluorescein observations of the cornea and contact lens fitting
- A disadvantage of this filter technique is the high levels of illumination required because of the significant light losses in the filters and the relatively low level of ‘fluorescence’ being imaged
-
Neutral density filter
- The use of a polarizing filter to remove glare is especially useful when photographing the aerial image of the fundus utilizing the slit lamp biomicroscope in conjunction with an attached camera
