Policy
- A general (broad) rule or guideline that an individual employee, or an entire organization, should adhere to.

Procedure
- A very specific, detailed statement of a rule or guideline that must be followed by individuals within an organization.

Agreement Types

Business Partnership Agreement (BPA)
- An agreement defining the role of each partner in the relationship.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- An agreement defining the minimum services provided by a service provider. In IT, the term most often refers to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) or Cloud Service Providers.

Interconnection Security Agreement (ISA)
- Often implemented with dealing with sensitive information, especially when performing contract work for the U.S. government.
- An assurance that any sensitive information disclosed in the process of performing the current job will remain secret. Breach may be met with fines and/or deprivation of liberty.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- An informal memo stating the terms between two or more parties involved in a business partnership or relationship, loosely defining the expectations each party may have of the other.
