2 Goals
- Topic
- Take advantage of the knowledge of my coworkers who currently use Moodle technology to organize their classes, post online tests and assignments, etc., and ask for more in depth information on how exactly they achieve this technology integration and their opinions of its usefulness in science education.
- As our IB biology requirements include the use of 5 ICTs (datalogging, database use, excel, etc.), I must look to expand the number of lab activities that integrate these technologies in a meaningful way. This should include contacting other IB bio teachers for advice as well as conducting my own online searches for possible ways to use this technology in association with our biology standards.

My Threats
-
Resolutions to problem solving requests with technology issues can be slow, partially due to budgetary constraints that limit our availability of replacement parts.
- Be more vocal in my needs, taking the approach that the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
-
Limited access of classes to computers on a routine basis.
- Map out computer needs well in advance and reserve the computer labs early in the semester to insure my classes have access to computers when I need them.
-
Increasing class size limits one to one student to computer ratios in computer labs.
- Adapt my assignments from individual assignments to partner/pair assignments so that students make work together and share computers without compromising the value of their work.
-
My Opportunities
- Current computer apps teachers at my school are available to answer questions and are very helpful and friendly.
- School system is encouraging integration of technology and
increasing/facilitating our access to some technology.
- Students are eager to learn and share new technologies, so I can keep up with student interests and educate myself by simply making a point of talking to my students.
-
My Weaknesses
-
Already full schedule puts time constraints on my ability to find ways to integrate technology into my lesson plans.
- Break technology goals down into smaller steps that are easier to work into my planning periods.
-
I'm not particularly interested in technology.
- Find some aspect of technology that does "float my boat" to encourage my own curiosity and interest.
-
Technology changes very quickly, making it difficult for me to stay on top of both programs I am already familiar with and newly introduced programs.
- Try to locate an online newsletter or email update list that keeps me informed of new and upcoming technologies.
-
My Strengths
- As new teacher, I'm not wedded to one way of doing things.
- I pick up new things easily and adapt to new or changing situations quickly.
- I can read and follow directions, which gives me the opportunity to teach myself to use new technologies when needed.
