Xmind offers different ways to view the mind maps. And there’s always a way that best fits the need.
Fold/Unfold All Sub-Branches
View your mind map without sub-branches. Have a more clear visual on the main Topics.
Fold All Sub-Branches
Right-Click the central Topic, and choose Fold All Sub-Branches.
Menu Bar: Choose the central Topic, Edit > Fold All Sub-Branches.

Unfold All Sub-Branches
Right-Click the central Topic, and choose Unfold All Sub-branches.
Menu Bar: Choose the central Topic, Edit > Unfold All Sub-Branches.

Fold/Unfold Subtopic
Besides the central Topic, Subtopics can also be folded/unfolded.
Fold Subtopic
- Hover the mouse on the main topic, then click -.
- Right-Click the Topic, and choose Fold Sub-topic.

Unfold Subtopic
- If the Topic is folded, the total number of Subtopics will be shown in the node. Click the number to unfold the Subtopics.
Right-Click the Topic, and choose Unfold Subtopic.
Menu Bar: Choose the topic, and Edit > Unfold Subtopic.

Show Branch Only
When a mind map is too big, this feature helps to focus on a specific Topic.
Right-Click the Topic, and choose Show Branch Only.
Click Show Full Content on the upper left corner to exit.
Note: The format of the map is not available to edit when Show Branch Only is selected.
Navigation Panel
When reading or editing a big mind map, Navigation Panel offers keywords, notes, label and marker searching. This helps to track and edit the content faster.
- Menu Bar: View> Show Navigation Panel
- Click the settings next to the search box for more advanced search options.

Map Overview
Map Overview presents a general view of a mind map, which can be used to locate the a topic quickly.
Show Map Overview
- Sheet Bar: Click the Map Overview icon.
- Menu Bar: View > Show Map Overview
Hide Map Overview
Sheet Bar: Click the Map Overview icon.
Menu Bar: View > Hide Map Overview
Topic Count
Xmind automatically counts the number of current Topics and you can keep track of them easily.
Click Topic Count in the sheet bar to check the number of Topics, Words, and Characters.
Zoom In/Out
Zoom in and out to get a closer look at details or a general view of the mind map, or simply adjust to fit the need.
- Click +/- in the Sheet Bar.
- Choose the percentage.

Place two fingers on the touchpad and pinch in or stretch out.

Mac: ⌘ + Scroll
