How Does XMind Help for Working at Home?
Apr 13, 2020
So most of us have started a home office or freelancer career, what about next? What about the staying productive and creative and living up to those expectations that you've wished?
As a dedicated team building productivity tools, we also use the crafted features as usual during the outbreak. Mmmm, there are indeed a few feature and tricks up our sleeves for both new-comer and mind mapping residents.
Outliner - Start a Day. Summarize a Week.
Morning prep routine matters for the day, so is a plan. A to-do can lay out what you need to accomplish for day. It's short, clear, and most importantly, simple enough to notify the things that needs to be done.
We all have our "to-dos" - in work, in life, and in formats. Daily To-do is friendly for beginners - simply fill in the tasks for different category.
Outliner is not only helpful for organizing the paper, but also shows relationships and hierarchies of the tasks. Take daily to-to as an example, you can fill the Main Topic with Morning, Noon, Afternoon and Evening, followed by Subtopics with different tasks.
Use Enter/Return for creating a new Main Topic, or Enter/Return + tab for adding a subtopic after it.
If you need to move the tasks, click, then drag and drop to the spot.
If the tasks are already in your head, but you are struggling of choosing to land on which one first, prioritize the tasks in the to-do. Put Top and Secondary Priorities in Main Topics, then write tasks afterwards.
If you've already got a long-term deadline or process in your mind, try to build an action plan with Outliner. An action plan is useful for long-term and strategic goals, and it would be great if all the goal-related tasks are listed. You can pay attention on the overall progress for the project, or watch closely of how each task is going, allowing you to adjust the tempo of your work pace for the deadlines.
You can also switch between Outliner and Mind Map for knowing which phase the project is at, and what are the next steps.
ZEN Mode - Stay Focused. Presentation. Brainstorming.
Mind map allows the audience to stay on one mind map, and a full-screen mind map enables you to keep your eyes on what you are working right now, instead of getting disturbed by the pop-up, flashing info notice, etc. That's what ZEN Mode came for - offering an exclusive space for your concentration, so that you can work or think at full speed.
while you can move the mouse and hover/click the topic you are talking right now, ensuring your audience is on the same page.
In an online meeting, product manager of XMind sent the mind map to the participants in advanced, then used ZEN Mode at screen-sharing for introducing the coming version.
If you are asking for an exclusive spotlight for a topic, Show Branch Only might help with a right-click on the topic.
However, this is not the end of the map. During the meeting, you can jot down the meeting notes directly on the mind map, or review them in the Outliner when it's done. Another best point is that, the mind map can also be used for other teams in different scenario. The marketing team applies it for further action plans, while the support team lists coming questions and be ready for better support.
Hyperlink Link - Bring Topics and Files Together
If a mind mapping presentation carries bulks of topics, it might be too much for your audience, even the speaker. Divide them into different sheets, and use Topic Link for a smooth transitions, follow the steps here for getting the mind mapping presentation perfectly done.
A mind map can also be your personal file arsenal, and you can reach them at ease.
Enhanced Export - Let the Flow Run Onward
XMind embraces multiple formats, and in XMind 2020, you can experience more detailed export options. If you are looking for a clearer display of the PNG, you can choose 100%, 200%, or even 300% scale to avoid the blur. Transparent background ensures your mind maps can be well presented in PPT or Keynote. If the mind maps will be applied on a web page, the SVG format (Subscribed Feature) is always here for help.
