If you want to share your mind maps with others, you can export them to PDF or PNG formats for sharing. Xmind currently supports exporting PNG, SVG, PDF, Excel, Word, OPML, TextBundle, PowerPoint, Markdown and other file formats, and you can also share mind map with others by email, etc.

#Export to PDF

When you want to share the mind maps with your friends, but are worried that the exported PNG images will be compressed, you can consider exporting in PDF format.

  • Click on the menu bar of the File > Export > PDF, then choose to export the mind map, Outliner or Pitch Mode of the PDF, with choice of current map or the current file. You could also choose whether to retain the background color and watermark.

  • If you want to export PDF horizontally, you can click the menu bar File > Print to call out the print settings, select the layout as landscape, and then select Save as PDF in the printer section.

#Export to PNG/JPEG

When you have higher requirements for the clarity of the exported mind map, you can exporting 2x and 3x to enlarge your mind map. The higher the magnification, the higher the clarity of the mind map.

  • Click File > Export > PNG or JPEG in the menu bar and select the preferred scaling.
  • When you want to export each branch separately, you can ☑️ check Split by Main Branch, and the system will automatically export as separate branch in image format.
  • You can choose to export image with transparent background for better presentation when intergrate with PowerPoint.
  • If you want to export image files without watermark, you can uncheck Show "Presented with xmind".

#Add an image frame

When exporting your mind map as a PNG or JPEG image in Xmind, you have the option to enhance your image with an image frame. This feature allows you to add a decorative or functional border around your mind map, providing a polished look for presentations or sharing.

How to Add an Image Frame in Xmind:

  • In the export options, you'll find the image frame section. Xmind offers six distinct frame styles to choose from, catering to various aesthetic preferences.
  • Once you've selected a frame, you can further customize it by adjusting the Aspect Ratio, which changes the frame's width and height proportions.
  • You also have the option to modify the Background Color of the frame, allowing you to match or contrast with your mind map's color scheme.
  • Additionally, you can adjust the Padding, which is the space between your mind map and the frame, to create the desired emphasis and focus on your content.

#Export to SVG

If you want to print losslessly, you can choose to export SVG format. Many other professional drawing application also support SVG format, that's why you can choose to export SVG format when you are making a poster or adjustment on the mind map.

  • Click File > Export > SVG in the menu bar, and select Current Map or Current File in the content section.

Note: To ensure proper display of the images, please make sure that the fonts used in the mind map are installed.

#Export to Other Formats

Excel, Word, OPML, TextBundle, Markdown and other file formats can be exported by clicking Export and selecting the storage location of the exported file.
